TFHK Summer 2024 Intern

About This Role

We greatly value the contribution of our interns as we are a small and fast-growing team. As an intern/youth ambassador, you are part of our movement to drive systemic change in education equity and youth leadership development.

You will work closely with our team members on important and impactful projects. We develop our interns to shoulder real responsibilities and deliver meaningful outcomes for the organization.

Along the way, you will gain better insight into the non-profit and education sectors, and have a clearer picture of your role in driving social impact and achieving education equity in Hong Kong.

Your Commitments

  • Requirement: 4-5 days per week

  •  Location: Lai Chi Kok office OR Other Working Location (Depending on the location of the Summer Institute)

  • Type: Unpaid NGO volunteer 

  • Duration: May - August 2024

Your Role As an Intern

You will be mainly attached to one operating team while having the chance and flexibility to engage in work scope from 1-2 other areas of our non-profit operation.

  • You can indicate your preferences in the application form. There is no guarantee that your preferences will be met. The final decision will be made based on your interview performance.

Marketing and Communication Intern

  • Support with marketing activities such as an annual report, social media, events planning, and content development (e.g design, copywriting)

  • Create a story hub by conducting interviews with our Fellows, alumni, and guests from diverse backgrounds (e.g. education, nonprofit, social impact, business, technology, etc.)

  • Assist in Summer institute marketing initiatives (both online and offline)



Fellowship Program Management Intern

  • Assist in designing the curriculum and materials enhancement of the two-week Summer School for incoming TFHK Fellows (young adults) 

  • Drive the implementation of a six-week Summer Institute including logistics support, progress documentation, and evaluation.

  • Conduct research and design for the Fellowship Program enhancement on topics of leadership development, action research, coaching, etc.


Learning Program Design Intern

  • Support in planning and executing community projects, including, but not limited to, conducting research, designing training sessions for youth ambassadors (YAs), and coordinating the recruitment of YAs, etc.


  • Induction

    • The induction program will equip you with the mindset, knowledge and professional ethics to excel in the education/ philanthropy sector.

    Develop

    • Alongside on-the-job training, there will be opportunities to develop yourself through problem-solving exercises and action learning projects. It will give you a real understanding of what it takes to shine in the education/ philanthropy sector.

    Exposure

    • There will be ample opportunities to interact and learn from our senior management and colleagues. Our Mentors and Buddies will keep you inspired and engaged, and get your prepared for the career development in future. We also hold internal and external events where you can further broaden your horizons.

    Acceleration

    • Feedback is essential for performance and career acceleration, and you will receive on-going input from management and peers. This will help you keep track of progress, discover personal strengths, and identify the development needs.

    • We actively encourage a two-way development conversation. We want to help you formulate a personal development plan which enables you to fulfill your career aspiration.

    • Strong interest in working professionally to bring education equity

    • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills, with high proficiency in Chinese and English

    • A positive can-do, open-minded attitude 

    • Well-organized, responsible, detail-oriented, systematic, presentable, a proven team player, and self-starter

    • Proficient in MS Office and Google Suite

    • Proficient in Canva/PS/AI/InDesign/Premier Pro will be a plus

    • Experience in working with children or students, as well as designing workshops and programs, will be a plus
