Gearing Up

Post recruitment, Fellows are given intensive summer training sessions before teaching in their assigned schools. They are organized to prepare each Fellow to mature as effective teaching members and student mentors, while acquiring a holistic skillset that can also serve them post-Fellowship.

Training Details

Team-building Orientations

Strong team spirit and team-playing capacities are critical skills for each fellow, as they will frequently work with varied stakeholders. Thus, fellows undergo a series of orientation trainings to understand the Fellowship Program, while obtaining an opportunity to develop rapport with their peers.

Professional Training

Through the Quality School Improvement Project (QSIP) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), we partner to provide training for our fellows. Fellows receive various learning theories on classroom management, presentation skills, student development and parent communication, to name a few.

Teaching Practice

Our fellows gain their first taste of frontline teaching through a teaching practice for voluntary summer students with some of our partner school. A rotation between university instructors, school teachers, fellow alumni and members of our management team sit-in their class to provide further feedback on their teaching efficacy after each lesson.

Leadership & Career Development

TFHK wants to create a sustainable movement of changemakers. We do this by providing our fellows leadership roles and support in their career developement. We organize leadership training and career guidance for each Fellow to understand their individual strengths, weaknesses, and personalities stronger. We also give them many opportunities to understand alternative career paths they can explore after the Fellowship Program.

Education Innovation

We are firm believers that innovative teaching techniques can directly improve one’s learning interest and motivation, thus their learning performance. With this in mind, we connect our fellows with esteemed innovators in education through sharing sessions and industry presentations. So that our fellows can bring these know-hows into their own classroom too. Below you will find some of our guest speakers for these sharing.

Leaders’ Sharing

In addition to professional sharings from the education field, we also invite innovators from other sectors in society. From their personal successes, experience in the field and their industry insights, they share their knowledge to raise our fellows’ awareness of society at large. Altogether, we aim to facilitate a strong learning platform for our fellows to understand sustainable changes and strong leadership through different lense of thought.
